CONNEAUT TWP. — Work is set to begin on the replacement of an 82-year-old bridge on Route 6 over Paden Creek in Conneaut Township, Crawford County.
The project will give motorists a sound, modern bridge to replace the existing deteriorated 98-foot-long concrete T-Beam structure that was built 1931.
The project is located approximately 400 feet west of the intersection with Footsville Road and approximately 25 feet east of the intersection with Beaver Center Road.
About 19-hundred vehicles a day use the bridge.
The contractor for the project is Chivers Construction Co. of Fairview, Pa. The contract cost is just over one million one hundred thousand dollars. The project is being built with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
Work is expected to begin on March 11 and the project is scheduled for completion in mid-August.
A detour will be posted using Center Road and Beaver Center Road.
Footsville Road will also be closed at Route 6. A detour will be posted using Phelps Road to Route 6 or Phelps Road to Center Road to Beaver Center Road.
