FRANKLIN – If court records are to be believed, two Venango County residents will appear before a judge this morning, who will determine if there is enough evidence for them to go to trial.
Preliminary hearings for Jeffrey Scott Mercer and Kelsi Elizabeth Hawthorne are scheduled for 8:30 this morning in Venango Central Court.
They are accused of stealing nuclear grade stainless steel from Colonial Machine Company in Pleasantville. They sold it for scrap 145-dollars. Little did they know, the ultra high corrosion resistant alloy would have actually been worth around 17-hundred dollars.
