OIL CITY -- A couple of guys in Oil City are facing a huge list of criminal charges including multiple felonies following a weekend crime spree. Twenty-four-year-old Shane Vitka, of Oil City, and 18-year-old Michael Perry, of Polk, allegedly began their spree on Halloween, when they purchased a BB gun that looks like a pistol. Police say they used the fake gun to rob a man on Colbert Street. They then failed at two attempts to get money with his ATM debit card.
Witnesses told police the two men had been trying to sell bath salts in and around the oil city area, which police later located in Vitka’s bedroom.
But the real kicker came when the duo broke into a vacant Pearl Avenue apartment building and proceeded to steal a toilet. Police managed to track the commode to Vitka’s home where it was to be used to replace a broken one.
Also facing charges in relation to the toilet theft is 19-year-old Anne Iliff.
Vitka and Perry were both committed to the Venango County Jail with bail at $50,000.
