CRANBERRY TWP. – You might think of crop circles as the stuff of late night talk shows and science fiction movies, but for one Venango County farmer, they are all too real.  In this case though, it’s pretty clear an extraterrestrial source can be ruled out.  Forty-eight-year-old Cranberry Township resident John Erwin tells State Police somebody drove around in his field on Tarklin Road, spinning crop circles and damaging freshly planted corn, oats, and hay.

And for Erwin, the only thing out-of-this-world about the incident will be the cost.

Police estimate the damage at around 5-thousand dollars.

It happened some time in the wee hours Monday morning.

Anyone with information can contact Franklin State Police.
