Vacant house burns in Summit Township

SUMMIT TWP. – Multiple departments battled a house fire at 9381 Gehrton Road, Summit Township.  A neighbor called it in just after 4:00 this morning.  It’s in the same neighborhood that’s been ravaged by fires, mostly in vacant cottages, since early spring.

The owner, Warren Smith, tells us nobody has lived here for some 30 years.

Peter Albaugh, Summit Township Fire Marshall, says State Police are on their way out to investigate.  Albaugh calls the circumstances “suspicious.” No utilities were hooked up at the house.

Albaugh says neighbors are concerned, adding, “there are too many coincidences."

Crawford County Dispatch says Summit, Conneaut Lake, Conneaut Lake Park, Conneautville, Linesville, and North Shenango fire departments responded.

No injuries were reported by Crawford County Dispatch.
