CONNEAUT LAKE – As many as 35 teams of amateur and professional fishermen are expected to turn out on Conneaut Lake later this month for the annual Bass Classic.
“It starts very early in the morning, and then we have the weigh-in at 1pm. We encourage all the communities to come out for the weigh-in. It’s really unique.”
Amy Murphy Woods is Executive Director of the United Way of Western Crawford County. She says the fundraiser is happening Friday July 26th at the Iroquois Club on Conneaut Lake.
“What we do is, we pair up amateur with professional bass fishermen, and they head out on the lake, and there’s a cash payout for the top five teams. This year we have retired Steeler John Kolb coming out to fish back to fish again, and he’s a super neat guy. It’s a great, great, great event.”
Woods says spaces are filling up fast but there are still a few slots left for fishermen, and sponsorships are being accepted as well. You can get a hold of the United Way at 814-337-1251.
