Meadville-based State Police have made two arrests in connection with armed robberies at three Crawford County bars. 37-year-old Michael Duane Ferguson is accused of robbing the Owl's Nest in Woodcock Township, Nate's Bar in Cochranton, and Double D's Bar in Vernon Township on three separate occasions in July.
45-year-old Harry Willard Boyer is accused of driving Ferguson to each of the crime scenes.
In each of the robberies, Ferguson allegedly entered the business near closing time and fired a round into the ceiling with a sawed-off shotgun before demanding money from the bartender.
State Police say both men are from the Meadville area.
On August 1st, Boyer contacted police and implicated Ferguson for his role in the crimes. Additional investigation revealed that Ferguson, a convicted felon, was in posession of a shotgun matching the description of the one used at the crime scene. A few days later, he was arrested on weapons charges.
Boyer was interviewed by Meadville State Police on Wednesday and allegedly admitted to police he acted as an accomplice to Ferguson in all three robberies.
Both men were charged and arraigned Thursday morning awaiting a preliminary hearing August 27th.
Ferguson's bail was set at 70-thousand dollars -- Boyer, at 60-thousand.
