MEADVILLE – Two residents of the Holland Towers senior citizens high rise in Meadville were injured in a late night fire. Lieutenant Ryan Carlson of the Meadville City Fire Department tells us the fire broke out around 11:00 last night in a room on the fifth floor. Carlson describes arriving to a room filled with smoke.
The fire was quickly knocked down and remained confined to the cinderblock apartment with little structural damage, however an elderly woman was treated for injuries related to not being able to access her oxygen tank. A male resident reportedly broke his ankle during the evacuation.
Lieutenant Carlson says the chief is still investigating the cause.
