Two Crawford County residents sentenced for Welfare Fraud

NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA – Two Crawford County residents were sentenced for the crime of Welfare Fraud in May.  Thirty-nine-year-old Kathy Bermudez, of Spartansburg, was ordered to pay full restitution, costs, and fines as well as one year probation for fraudulently claiming over 36-hundred dollars in Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program and SNAP benefits. 

And 36-year-old Jason Shook, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 18-months probation, plus costs, fines, and restitution, for claiming 21-hundred dollars in SNAP benefits. 

Both residents were disqualified from participating in the SNAP program for one year.
