TITUSVILLE – A Titusville man is being held on charges of attempted robbery. City Police tell us it happened just before 7:30 yesterday morning, when Tyler Smith approached a woman in a parked car at Giant Eagle. Police say she rolled down the window and the 21-year old Smith started demanding money. When she refused to give it to him, he allegedly started assaulting her with a stick he was carrying.
The commotion attracted the attention of some bystanders, and Smith fled on foot. But he didn’t get very far. Police caught up with him a little while later and he was charged with two counts of felony robbery, one count of misdemeanor theft, and one count of misdemeanor simple assault.
He was arraigned before District Judge Amy Nichols and bound over to Crawford County Jail in lieu of 100-thousand dollars bond.
