TITUSVILLE – Titusville Airport wants more money from Crawford County in 2014 to help pay for runway maintenance. Airport officials are requesting 25-thousand dollars this time as opposed to just 15 thousand in years past.
Jim Kuhn, President of the Airport Authority Board, says much of this money will be used as a local match for a federal aviation grant that will help fix cracks in the pavement of the runway and also upgrade lighting.
Jim Becker of the Titusville Redevelopment Authority says a thriving airport is key for a strong business community in Titusville.
“The Titusville Airport has plenty of land opportunities for building for small business, particularly for shale-related companies, as a prime opportunity for us to reach out as another tool in our toolbox, if you will, to not only have light manufacturing and commercial space, but also have the ability to have access to the runway.”
Commissioners will vote on the proposal on Thursday.
