Saturday, September 21st, Hogs-Paws-and-Claws presents the 2nd annual benefit dog walk of peace love and tranquility, featuring a motorcycle run this year.  The event is taking place September 21st from 10am to 4:30 at the Rocky Grove Fairgrounds.

 

 

 

 

The Emmanuel Church of Christ will hold an autumn arts and crafts festival September 21st from 10am to 6pm.  They are located at 30 Park Avenue in Meadville across from Wesbury.  There will be live entertainment, a Chinese Auction, free parking and free admission.

 

 

 

 

The brothers of Phi Kappa Psi and Phi Gamma Delta are teaming up to host the first annual Jefferson Duo 5K.  The run will be held on September 21st at 11am on Allegheny College’s Brooks Walk.   Registration is fifteen dollars for adults, ten dollars for students, and free to kids 12 and under.  Proceeds benefit local Boys and Girls club chapters and the Red Cross.

 

 

 

 

The Crawford County Youth Hockey Association’s open house is from 1 to 3pm Saturday September 7th at the Meadville Area Rec Complex.  Also being held in conjunction with the open house is a trunk sale from ten to 3 for people to sell hockey equipment and other items.  For more information or to reserve a spot call the MARC at 724-6006.

 

 

 

 

Sugar Lake and Deckards United Methodist Churches are having a rally day on September 28th.  The day will include a cornhole tournament at 3pm, and other activities including hay rides, home made ice cream, hot dogs, and food.  There will also be local entertainment including music from Jack Adams.  Everything except the Corn Hole Tournament will be free and proceeds will benefit the churches.

 

The Pleasantview Alliance Church will host its 3rd annual Free 4 U event Saturday September 14th from 9am to 3pm.  This community event is similar to a rummage sale, except everything is free.  Pleasantview is located on Highway 86 near Saegertown, PA.

 

 

 

 

Holy Hootenanny is a free public concert at Heckathorn United Methodist Church in Seneca.  It will be held Saturday September 7th.  Bring chairs.  Hot food will be for sale at 4:30 with music from 5pm to dusk.  Performances will include the Weckerly and Keister Families and other local talent.

 

 

 

 

A Cruise for the Cure Car Show will be held Saturday September 14th from noon to 5pm at Advance Auto Parts on Liberty Street in Franklin.  All proceeds will benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research. 

 

 

 

 

Meadville Council on the Arts invites the community to their annual open house “MCArnival of the Arts” the weekend of September 6th through the 8th.  Events will be taking place on the second floor of the Market House in the Heeschen Gallery, Gardner Theatre, Dance Studio, and around the Market House.

 

 

 

 

The Salvation Army, on the corner of 8th and Elk Streets in Franklin, is holding beginner and intermediate Line Dancing classes beginning Monday September 9th from 7 to 9pm.  All ages are welcome and proceeds benefit the Salvation Army.  For more information call 814-432-8065.

 

 

 

 

Conneaut Lake’s annual fall pumpkin fest is happening the weekend of October 11th through the 13th.  Events will run from 2 to 8 on Friday, 10am to 9pm on Saturday, and 10 to 5 on Sunday.  Don’t miss the giant pumpkin drop when a thousand pound pumpkin gets lifted 90 feet into the air and dropped on top of a car!  For more information visit Conneaut lake dot com slash pumpkinfest. 

 

 

You’re invited to come to Cochranton High School Saturday September 21st starting at 1pm for a PINGPONG tournament.  It’s the senior project of Taylor Bridge and all proceeds benefit the Lupus Foundation of America.  The cost is 5 dollars.  There will be first and second place trophies in each age division and gift cards.

 

 

 

 

Bethesda Children’s Home, in Meadville, is holding a Mud Run 5k Saturday October 26th starting at 9am.  You’ll be trekking through mud, crawling under and over things that will definitely be in your way.  Best part is all proceeds help Bethesda and their programs that benefit at risk kids.  For more information call 814-724-7510.

 

 

 

 

Oktoberfest 2013 will be held September 27th through the 29th at the Marienville United Methodist Church.  Events include a church service, craft and food vendors, a pumpkin raising contest, karaoke and more.

Twenty-two-year-old Polk resident Nick Hazen is suffering from Crohn’s Disease  and fighting an infection in his colon and a hole in his lung.  The financial burden is very difficult for his family and he has no health insurance.  He is the father of a baby girl.    If you’d like to help Nick’s family with his medical expenses, call Angel at (814) 518-5383.
