Meadville City Police responded to a burglary at the Downtown Mall early Saturday morning.

Chief David Stefanucci told us an intruder broke into the Wine and Spirits store some time before 7:00 a.m.  Stefanucci said in addition to breaking a window at the liquor store, the burglar threw a rock through a window at Big Lots.

"Quite a few bottles of liquor were stolen," Stefanucci said.

Stefanucci said the burglar did not gain entry to Big Lots.

City police were alerted to the crime when a member of mall security noticed the broken windows while making his rounds.

Police have no description of the suspect.

"If somebody knows someone with a lot of liquor, give us a call," Stefanucci said.
