A Meadville man's attempt to burglarize the Warm Home and Hearth store in Pleasantville goes horribly wrong. State Police say 18-year-old Tyson Conkey was drunk when he decided to break into the store at around 3:39 yesterday morning.
Police say Conkey climbed a fence and used a block of wood to smash out a window, but the glass cut his arm so badly that while he was in the store, police say he became disoriented from blood loss. Apparently, he couldn't find a way out of the store, and used a business phone inside to tell his stepfather he was in trouble. The stepfather called 911 and went to the store but was unable to find Conkey, though police say he did notice trails of blood throughout the store. State troopers eventually found Conkey lying in a pool of blood and vomit. Paramedics treated him at the scene for shock symptoms before he was taken to Titusville Hospital.
Police have linked Conkey to the vandalism of several mailboxes in the area prior to committing the burglary.
Charges are pending.
