BLOOMFIELD TWP. – Police say alcohol was a factor in a fiery Bloomfield Township crash that injured a Centerville man Monday afternoon.  Two men reportedly pulled 50-year-old Eric Carlson from a burning vehicle after a crash at about 20-to-three last afternoon.  Police say Carlson was driving on Route 8 near Riceville Corners when he drifted off the road and crashed into a mailbox.  After coming to rest, police say his Toyota Corolla caught fire.  That’s when two passing motorists stopped and pulled him out of the vehicle.  Shortly afterwards, the car became fully engulfed in flames, according to police reports.

Carlson was taken by ambulance to UPMC Hamot in Erie, where he remains this morning in fair condition.  Cops say DUI and other traffic charges are pending.

State Police in Corry are still trying to identify those two men who rendered aid at the scene.  If you’re listening this morning, State Troopers want to get in touch with you.  You can call them at 814-663-2043.
