WEST MEAD TWP. — A man is in jail for an alleged attempted child abduction at the Crawford County Fair.  West Mead Police did not release the man’s name.  On Friday at about 6:00 in the evening, the man allegedly picked a female child out of a stroller and attempted to walk off with her.  Police say the mother quickly regained control of her daughter and the man walked away.

Police say the suspect was wearing a Buffalo Bills t-shirt, a tan hat, and had a beard.  A man matching that description was quickly observed by fair security and apprehended around Gate 2.  He was taken to Meadville Medical Center Friday night for a psychiatric evaluation before being taken to the Crawford County Jail.  He was preliminarily arraigned Saturday morning.
