IRWIN TWP. – A Kennerdell teen died Tuesday evening while working on a car.  Eighteen-year-old Carl Emery Wickline, III was last seen at his home at 751 Dog Hollow Road, in Irwin Township, Venango County, at about 7pm Tuesday, when he went out to work on a 1997 Ford Explorer for a school project.  State Police say Wickline was lying on his back under the vehicle while working at removing the transmission when the vehicle rolled and the supporting jack stands fell, causing the vehicle to trap him between the vehicle and the ground.

His father awoke at about 6am Wednesday and discovered he wasn’t in his bedroom.  Police say he went out to the vehicle and found his son trapped under it.  He jacked up the vehicle and removed his unresponsive son from underneath.

His father’s attempts to resuscitate his son were unsuccessful.

Venango County 911 was contacted and members of the Clintonville VFD responded to the scene, along with troopers from PSP Franklin.  At 8:05am on Wednesday, Venanto County Coroner Tyler Best preliminarily pronounced death resulting from asphyxiation due to blunt force trauma.

State Police are ruling the death accidental.
