FRANKLIN – A Franklin man is behind bars on charges he tampered with emergency vehicles at the Venango Airport.  Nineteen-year-old John Wilson was arraigned and jailed on Friday after Franklin City Police determined he made unauthorized changes to two crash rescue trucks while working at the airport December 19th.

Police say Wilson tampered with numerous switches, controls, and pump panels on these trucks, to the extent that one of the trucks would not even start.  The other, police say, was rendered unable to communicate with incoming aircraft of other emergency equipment.  Wilson was charged with felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, and another misdemeanor count of injuring or tampering with fire apparatus.

He’s in the Venango County Jail, unable to post 25-thousand dollars bail.  Court records indicate he’s due at a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
