OIL CITY – A former Venango County Probation Officer has been charged with rape.  The Oil City Police Department reports that after an eight month long investigation, 39-year-old Knox resident Marc Taylor was arrested.  Clarion State Troopers carried out the arrest on Tuesday on behalf of officers from Oil City.  Taylor is being held on charges of rape, solicitation to commit rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, bribery, official oppression, obstruction of administrative law, and institutional sexual assault.  Police say the charges are connected to alleged incidents when Taylor was employed as a probation officer for Venango County from 2009 to 2012.

Police tell us Taylor was taken to jail after his arraignment with Judge Michael Snyder in Franklin, and failed to post bail in the amount of 40-thousand dollars.  He will remain in the Venango County Jail until his scheduled preliminary hearing September 11th in Venango Central Court.
