PLUM TWP. – The former treasurer of the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department, in Plum Township, Venango County, has been arrested.  Forty-one-year-old Kimberly Keener stands accused of embezzling more than 25-thousand dollars from the department since she took office as treasurer in 2010.

Keener is also accused of misappropriating 76-hundred dollars from the Relief Association.

Police say Keener did this by writing checks for herself and her mother.

Keener was arraigned in front of District Magistrate Andrew Fish and was sent to the Venango County Jail with bond set at 15-thousand dollars.

The department was decertified in November owing to an investigation into the misappropriated funds.  A reorganization of the department is expected soon.
