SUGARCREEK BORO – Power is now beginning to be restored in parts of Venango County after many residents were left in the dark.  Over 6-thousand Penelec customers were reported without power this morning, mostly in Sugarcreek Borough, Oil City, and Franklin, but also in Polk Borough and Sandycreek, Frenchcreek, Cranberry, President, Cornplanter, Oakland and Jackson Townships.

County Dispatch says the trouble can be traced back to what they termed a “small explosion” at the electrical substation at Front Street and Allegheny Boulevard in Sugarcreek.  No word what caused that explosion.  911 received the call for the explosion at around 6:38 this morning.  A dispatcher this morning told Forever Broadcasting most of the power has now been restored.
