MEADVILLE – Literacy has a new face in Crawford County. The Crawford County READ Program welcomes Dr. Armendia Dixon as its new Executive Director. Dixon has been serving in that post since August of 2012 but it wasn’t until a press conference yesterday that members of the public got the chance to officially welcome her aboard.
A Mississippi native, Dixon brings with her an extensive background in education with degrees from Jackson State College, Edinboro University, and Kent State.
“All of my life, as far as education, that’s where I’ve been. And I love reading, and certainly know the value of reading, because when people can read and understand, you know, they can contribute more.”
The READ Program specializes in adult and family literacy programs, GED preparation, and preparation for various entrance exams.
