An inmate awaiting trial on rape charges at the Crawford County Jail clings to life following an apparent suicide attempt. Sources say 29-year-old Ethan Vandervort, of Meadville suffered severe brain damage when he tried to hang himself shortly after 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at the jail. As of Thursday morning, he was confirmed to be in the intensive care unit at Hamot Hospital. A nursing supervisor there refused to comment on his condition.
