LINESVILLE – Conneaut School Board last night approved a pay raise for the district’s substitute teachers. Superintendent Jarrin Sperry says the move is an effort to attract and keep more subs.
“Every district has had a hard time getting substitutes for the last couple of years. We are slightly below the districts around us. The board made a decision to increase it so we are slightly above the districts around us.”
Subs will now earn $85 dollars a day, with an increase to $90 on their 46th day, and $100 on their 91st day. Previously, they earned only $75 a day. Subs in surrounding districts earn, on average, $80 a day. So far this year, Sperry says no substitute has served for more than 90 days. The pay raise is pro-rated to the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.
