MEADVILLE – Conneaut Lake Park is headed for a tax sale. The Crawford County Commissoners on Wednesday unanimously approved a measure that will set into motion the necessary steps to sell off the park property to pay down what is now an 877-thousand dollar tax debt.
Commissioners at the Wednesday meeting said they did receive a plan from the board of trustees, but it only involved paying current taxes, and asked for a delay in paying down the past debt. That plan was rejected by the county commissioners.
A tax sale would not happen until at least September of 2014, and it will take some significant legal maneuvering to pull it off. Details at this point are still being hashed out, including whether the park will be sold as one piece, or if the 42 parcels will be sold individually.
