SUMMIT TWP. – Legal action is pending at Conneaut Lake Park. Greg Sutterlin and Steve Popovich lease the Beach Club and Hotel Conneaut properties from the Conneaut Lake Park Board of Trustees. As negotiations continue regarding the Trust’s outstanding 850-thousand dollar tax debt, rumors swirl about the possibility of the park going to Sheriff’s sale.
According to court documents, Sutterlin and Popovich are looking to ensure that their business interests at the park are taken care of if a tax sale is to occur. Apparently, the lease documents, which were signed in 2008, were never notarized, and as a result, are unable to be entered into the public record with the Recorder of Deeds. And Sutterlin says the Trust still refuses to sign the documents in the presence of a notary.
This court action, which Sutterlin says will be filed on Friday or shortly afterwards, directs the Trust to provide notarized signatures and pay legal costs.
