HARRISBURG - Agents from the Attorney General's Child Predator Unit have arrested a Butler County man accused of using the Internet to sexually proposition what he believed was a 13-year old girl and then traveling to a Cranberry Township motel in order to meet the girl for sex. The "girl" was actually an undercover agent who was using the online profile of a young teen.

Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane identified the defendant as Dennis Belles, 45, 145 W. Main St., Evans City, PA. Belles was arrested on Sunday, February 10, when he arrived at a predetermined location in Cranberry Township to meet a 13-year old girl for sex.

According to the criminal complaint, Belles used an online forum to contact an undercover agent. At the time, the agent was using the online identity of a single mother with a 13-year old girl.

Kane said that Belles told the agent he was "looking to be part of a family with girls that is not afraid of open family sex" and discussed meeting the "girl" at the hotel.

The charges state that on Friday, February 8th Belles contacted what he believed to be the woman's daughter and discussed in graphic detail the sex acts he wished to perform with her when they met that weekend.

Belles was arrested on Sunday, February 10th by agents from the Child Predator Unit, assisted by officers from the Cranberry Township Police Department when he arrived at the location in Cranberry Township where they had agreed to meet.

He was preliminarily arraigned before Cranberry Township Magisterial District Judge Kovach and lodged in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, February 15th at 9:00 am.

Following his arrest, Kane said that agents obtained a warrant to search Belles' home and vehicle, and that they seized electronic devices. Those items will be analyzed by the Attorney General's Computer Forensics Unit as part of an ongoing investigation.

Belles is charged with one count of unlawful contact with a minor related to sexual offenses, one count of criminal attempt/involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, one count of criminal use of a communication facility, one count of unlawful contact with a minor (obscene and other sexual material and performances), and one count of criminal attempt/indecent assault.

Kane thanked the Cranberry Township and Evans City Police Departments for their assistance with the investigation.  The case will be prosecuted in Butler County by Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo of the Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.
