ROCKDALE TWP. – A breakthrough in the Houy murder investigation over the weekend.  Remains believed to be those of Union City area man Gerald VanDyke were discovered in a barrel off Brown Hill Road in Crawford County’s Rockdale Township Friday night.

Authorities say the hands and head were removed.

On Wednesday, Rockdale resident Richard Houy allegedly confessed to killing VanDyke during an argument about VanDyke’s relationship with Houy’s daughter Tina Skelton.

It was Skelton, along with Richard Houy who initially reported VanDyke missing.

Houy remains locked up in the Crawford County Jail and has been denied bail.
