ERIE – The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern PA will award 35-thousand dollars to a local entrepreneur with a “Big Idea.”

“We have always known that Pennsylvania houses a lot of entrepreneurial activity, and when we sponsor these contests — we try to do it at least every other year — a lot of folks come out of the woodwork with great ideas, and apply.”

Marketing Director Liz Wilson says the Big Idea contest is open to any technology-related business in Erie, Clarion, Crawford, Mercer, Venango, Warren, or Forest County.  The business must have a new, marketable tech-business idea that includes a commercialization plan, along with other qualification requirements.

Three years ago, the award went to PSI Medical, which was at the time headquartered in Meadville.  And last year an Erie company won the money.

For more information, go to bigidea.benfranklin.org.  The deadline for entry is April 19th.
