HE SUSPECTED HIS WIFE WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH THE MAN WHO LIVED THERE. A FRIEND OF RICE’S CALLED POLICE AND TOLD THEM RICE HAS A HISTORY OF BIPOLAR DISORDER. THE BOMB SQUAD DEFUSED THE 1-FOOT LONG EXPLOSIVE DEVICE. RICE IS IN THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON.

 

A CRASH YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY. STATE POLICE SAY 72 YEAR OLD LOIS OESTREICH PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF A MOTORCYCLE WITHOUT STOPPING ALONG ROUTE 26 IN SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP. THE BIKE’S DRIVER, 27 YEAR OLD JOSEPH BLACK, WAS LIFE-FLIGHTED TO UPMC ALTOONA.

STATE Police say Carl’S PICKUP crossed into the OPPOSITE lane and struck a car driven by 64 year old Herbert Kisamore OF BEDFORD WHO DIED LATER AT UPMC Altoona.

BLAIR COUNTY JUDGE JOLENE KOPRIVA RULED YESTERDAY THAT 41 YEAR OLD PAUL AARON ROSS CAN FACE THE DEATH PENALTY IN HIS RE-TRIAL.

DURING HIS FIRST TRIAL, THE JURY DEADLOCKED AND HE WAS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR THE 2004 MURDER OF TINA MILLER AT CANOE CREEK STATE PARK. THE STATE SUPREME COURT ORDERED A RETRIAL BASED ON SEVERAL ISSUES. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER.

Rodgers CLAIMS 20-year-old Linsey Wolfe WAS KILLED WHEN HIS GUN ACCIDENTALLY WENT OFF during a dispute in their Bloom Street apartment. he’s represented by altoona defense attorney tom dickey.

 

a judge has ruled THAT Jerry Sandusky’s new attorney can have grand jury transcripts and others materials held by HIS previous defense team, BUT THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES REPORTS THE JUDGE is holding THE LAWYER to the same protective order that’s been in place in the case since the trial. ALEXANDER Lindsay, an attorney from Butler, SAYS he is representing Sandusky in a Post-Conviction Relief Act appeal. ThAT gives people who have exhausted other opportunities for appeal another chance to have their cases heard. It’s not clear on what grounds Sandusky would make the P-C-R-A appeal, which is limited to certain arguments.

PATTON TOWNSHIP POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THE MAN WHO ROBBED THE STATE COLLEGE RADIO SHACK AT GUNPOINT around noon Tuesday. HE ALLEGEDLY showed the clerk a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect is described as A BLACK MAN…5-FOOT-10 TO 6 FEET TALL…IN HIS EARLY 20’S WITH SHORT DREADLOCKS. HE WAS wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. A BIZARRE ASSAULT CASE IN CROMWELL TOWNSHIP, HUNTINGDON COUNTY. Police say 47 YEAR OLD STACY VARNER AND 64 YEAR OLD GLENDA SNYDER Got into an argument that turned physical. the WOMEN each allegedly swung a deer mount at each other. Snyder was hit with an antler and suffered a minor injury. BOTH ARE FACING CHARGES.

The 25-county federal court district in western Pennsylvania has been targeted by an email identity theft scam that seeks personal information from residents who are falsely told they're being contacted about jury duty. Officials with the Administrative Office of U.S. Courts say the district, which has courts in Pittsburgh, Erie and Johnstown, is one of at least 14 targeted by the scammers. The emails appear to be official and claim to be sent as part of the "National Ejuror Program," a real program used to register jurors in about 80 U.S. court districts. Some  ask for Social Security or credit card numbers and claim the recipient owes a fine for missing jury duty. court officials say potential jurors are contacted through the U.S. Postal Service only.

Altoona Area School District police officers, principals, and administrators will participate in a Violent Intruders safety DRILL TODAY AT the High School STARTING at 8am. THEY will spend the morning session in a classroom setting and the afternoon will include active scenarios in large group areas and classroom settings within the BUILDING. They were found July 25th in Ashville, Cambria County…and also in Rush Township, Centre County.
