FLOODING IN CAMBRIA COUNTY

strong thunderstorms BLEW THROUGH northern Cambria County LAST NIGHT, flooding SOME roads and basements As well as northern cambria elementary school’s gym and cafeteria. the entire northern cambria school district is closed today. The National Weather Service says the storms dumped up to 2 inches of rain in some areas and produced wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour. parts of blair and centre counties also got some heavy rain.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE WRECK

A BLAIR COUNTY WOMAN IS DEAD FOLLOWING A  MOTORCYCLE CRASH ABOUT 7 LAST NIGHT. LOGAN TOWNSHIP POLICE SAY THE 42 YEAR OLD ANTIS TOWNSHIP WOMAN LOST CONTROL ALONG OLD 6TH AVENUE ROAD NEAR BERGMEIER’S HAULING. THE VICTIM’S NAME HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED.

2 men arrested for assaults

27 YEAR OLD JAMIE LYNN OF MARTINSBURG IS IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON CHARGED WITH TERRORISTIC THREATS, SIMPLE ASSAULT, AND HARASSMENT. STATE POLICE SAY LYNN AND A WOMAN ARGUED IN A CAR ALONG ROUTE 36 IN TAYLOR TOWNSHIP YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. HE STRUCK THE VICTIM REPEATEDLY, PLACED HER IN A HEADLOCK AND CHOKED HER…THEN POINTED A HANDGUN AT HER. WHEN LYNN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION IN ROARING SPRING, the VICTIM FLED AND CALLED 911. POLICE FOUND LYNN LATER IN MARTINSBURG.

22 YEAR OLD MARK SOLT OF Pine Grove Mills IS IN THE CENTRE COUNTY PRISON ON 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND. FERGUSON TOWNSHIP POLICE SAY HE was arrested early Monday AFTER he GOT DRUNK AND pulled a knife on his girlfriend and another man WHO LIVED IN THEIR APARTMENT…and then punched the girlfriend in the face. charges includE aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and simple assault. POLICE FOUND SOLT IN HIS VEHICLE LATER SO HE’S ALSO CHARGED WITH D-U-I…AND HE shattered a window on a holding cell at the Police STATION. A PRELIMINARY HEARING WILL BE HELD NEXT WEEK.

DogS rescued

The Somerset County Humane Society recently found 25 dogs living in a filthy, feces and urine covered mobile home in Stoystown. the dogs are all spitzes ranging from 3 weeks old to a 17-year-old female. They are now being vaccinated and treated for fleas…then the humane society hopes to find homes for all of them.

STRIKES AGAINST SYRIA?

Former PENNSYLVANIA Congressman and Admiral Joe Sestak is expecting the U.S. to have a limited, strategic strike against Syria. HE told a Dickinson College audience yesterday "to a certain extent President Obama "boxed us in" when he stated a red line had been drawn. PennLive reports Sestak says the strike will happen because "if we don't do something we say, the next time we say something, they don't expect us to do what we say."

CURVE WRAPS UP SEASON

making a rehab start for the Curve’s final game, pirates’ closer Jason Grilli pitched 1 inning…struck out 3…allowed 1 hit…and threw 17 pitches, 14 strikes.
