11 YEAR OLD DIES

AN 11 YEAR OLD CAMBRIA COUNTY BOY DIED AT PITTSBURGH’S CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL THIS WEEKEND FOLLOWING A FEBRUARY 18TH ACCIDENT. THE ALTOONA MIRROR SAYS MATTHEW KUBAT JUNIOR WAS ASPHIXIATED WHILE PLAYING IN THE SNOW NEAR HIS HOME. HIS DEATH HAS BEEN RULED ACCIDENTAL…AND COUNSELORS ARE ON DUTY AT MATTHEW’S SCHOOL, ST MICHAEL’S SCHOOL IN LORETTO.

CHARGES FILED IN HUNTING DEATH

the State Game Commission SAYS MATTHEW NADOLSKY OF DUNLO is facing a number of penalties after he was charged in connection with a deadly hunting accident THAT HAPPENED IN EARLY DECEMBER IN ADAMS TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY. OFFICIALS saY SEVERAL PEOPLE fired SHOTS WHILE THEY WERE HUNTING, BUT NADOLSKY’S IS THE ONE THAT STRUCK Timothy Bruce OF ASHVILLE IN THE STOMACH. HIS ACTIONS ARE describeD as careless and negligent. Nadolsky could be facing up to a 10-THOUSAND DOLLAR fine and up to 18 months in jail, however the Game Commission does not THINK it will seek jail time. If Nadolsky is found guilty or pleads guilty, he could also lose his hunting license for 15 years. The fine will be paid to BRUCE’S family rather than the Game Commission.

CRASH VICTIM CRITICAL

21 YEAR OLD BRENDAN KIFER OF Hollidaysburg REMAINS in critical condition AT UPMC ALTOONA FOLLOWING a fiery crash on Interstate 99 SHORTLY BEFORE 2 MONDAY MORNING. State Police SaY Kifer was speeding WHEN HIS CAMARO spun into a light pole THEN STRUCK THE PLANK ROAD SIGN IN LOGAN TOWNSHIP. Kifer was EJECTED AND HIS CAR CAUGHT FIRE. THE flames WERE PUT OUT BY 2 PASSING TRUCK DRIVERS. TROOPERS BELIEVE alcohol WAs a factor.

officials at the dubois country club say the pro shop was saved when the building caught fire At 2 Monday morning and they plan to have it open for golf season. the owners also plan to re-build the Country Club. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. several firefighters who fell on ice are all okay.

STANDOFF SUSPECT SURRENDERS

State police saY 30-year-old Mark Mills JUNIOr was drinking and attacked a woman while he was driving. 3 young children were in the vehicle and witnessed the attack. ABOUT 3AM, MILLS BARRICADED HIMSELF INSIDE HIS home on Worchester. A SPECIAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM was called to scene AND MILLS EVENTUALLY SURRENDED ABOUT 6 HOURS LATER. HE’S JAILED ON 250-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND WITH a preliminary hearing set for March 5TH.

ALTOONA DRUG BUSTS

STATE AND LOCAL AGENTS SAY 25 YEAR OLD KENNETH HARRELL SOLD 40 PACKETS OF HEROIN TO A CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ON SUNDAY. WHEN POLICE PULLED OVER HIS CAR, THEY FOUND ANOTHER 50 PACKETS AND 19 YEAR OLD NYSHAUN PERIN-KEMP WAS A PASSENGER. AT THE POLICE STATION, KEMP TRIED TO THROW 10 PACKETS OF HEROIN OUT OF the police cruiser. WHEN searched HARRELL’S CAR, THEY found 60 more packets of heroin.

JAMES WALKER OF ALTOONA AND TREVON HEASTER OF SHIRLEYSBURG ARE IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON FACING DRUG CHARGES. POLICE RECEIVED A TIP THAT THEY WERE GOING TO PITTSBURGH TO PICK UP DRUGS. COPS STOPPED THEIR VEHICLE AND FOUND 245 PACKETS OF HEROIN WITH A STREET VALUE OF OVER 6-THOUSAND DOLLARS. WALKER WAS ALSO WANTED ON AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY.

PENN STATE SINKHOLE

PENN STATE OFFICIALS SAY A large sinkhole opened Sunday, closing a portion of the Brown A lot and the ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING East loading dock in the area of Pollock and Burrowes roads. repairs SHOULD TAKE ABOUT A WEEK. Those with Brown A permits will be allowed to park in the Red A lots near the IST Building until Friday.
