THE MAN APPARENTLY THREW A BOTTLE AT PLUMMER’S BUS, BREAKING A WINDOW…THEN EXPOSED HIMSELF AND WAS HARASSING THE DRIVER. THE MAN THREW A PUNCH THAT MISSED AND PLUMMER KNOCKED HIM TO THE GROUND. THE OFFICER IS ON DESK DUTY WITH PAY.

ACCUSED KILLER DUE IN COURT

FORMAL ARRAIGNMENT IS SCHEDULED TODAY IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY FOR KENNETH LEIGHTY OF ALTOONA. HE HAS CONFESSED TO KILLING HIS DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, SHERRY LEIGHTY, BACK IN 1999, BUT HE CLAIMS IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. BACK IN MAY, LEIGHTY LED AUTHORITIES TO THE BODY WHICH WAS BURIED AT HIS HUNTING CAMP IN WARRIORS MARK. LEIGHTY…WHO IS ALSO CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING THE COPS WHO CAME TO QUESTION HIM…COULD STAND TRIAL EARLY NEXT YEAR.

DAD GETS JAIL TIME

8-AND-A-HALF TO 17 YEARS IN PRISON IS THE SENTENCE FOR 38 YEAR OLD BRIAN ROLES SENIOR OF EAST TAYLOR TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY. THE GAME COMMISSION PLANS TO TEST 1-THOUSAND LOCALLY-KILLED DEER…AND THOUSANDS MORE STATEWIDE. THE DEADLY DISEASE TURNED UP IN 3 ANIMALS SHOT IN THE MORRISON’S COVE AREA LAST YEAR. THOSE WHO DON’T FOLLOW THE RULES WILL FACE CITATIONS AND FINES. HUNTERS WHO SPOT A SICK DEER CAN KILL IT AND TURN IT IN FOR A FRESH TAG.

SPECIAL ELECTION IN JANUARY

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DICK HESS DIED EARLIER THIS MONTH AND A SPECIAL ELECTION IS SCHEDULED JANUARY 28TH IN PARTS OF BEDFORD, FULTON, AND HUNTINGDON COUNTIES. STATE OFFICIALS HAVE SET A DECEMBER 9TH DEADLINE FOR CANDIDATE NOMINATION PAPERS TO BE FILED. THE WINNER WILL HOLD THE SEAT FOR LESS THAN A YEAR BEFORE THE NOVEMBER 2014 ELECTION.

STATE COLLEGEHIGH SCHOOL’S ANNUAL HOMECOMING PARADE IS TONIGHT AT 6 AND THE ROUTE WILL BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC STARTING AT 5:45. THE PROCESSION FORMS IN THE WESTERLY PARKWAY PARKING LOTS…THEN TRAVELS ON SOUTH ALLEN STREET…NITTANY AVENUE…AND SOUTH FRASER STREET. SOME OTHER STREETS IN THE AREA WILL ALSO BE CLOSED DURING THE PARADE. A PEP RALLY FOLLOWS AT MEMORIAL FIELD AND STREETS NEXT TO THE FIELD WILL BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC DURING THAT TIME.
