MAJOR DRAMA YESTERDAY IN THE PARKING LOT OF ALTOONA’S LOGAN VALLEY MALL AND THE NEARBY K-MART STORE. police SAY 37 YEAR OLD KEVIN MORROW AND HIS BROTHER, 29 YEAR OLD LARRY MORROW FIRED A SHOT AT 2 OTHER PEOPLE FOLLOWING AN ARGUMENT… THEN THEY WENT INSIDE K-MART, BUT FLED THE STORE ON FOOT. Altoona Police arrested them LATER on Union Avenue. THE BROTHERS ARE CHARGED WITH Criminal Attempted Homicide and Reckless Endangerment. THE GUN…WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER REMOVED…WAS DISCOVERED in a seat cushion INSIDE THEIR van. LUCKILY, no oNE was hurt.
JOHNSTOWN POLICE SAY ONe person was injured in a shooting SHORTLY BEFORE 12:30 THIS MORNING NEAR THE Oakhurst Homes. THE VICTIM WAS taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. NO WORD ON THE EXTENT OF INJURIES. NO arrests HAVE BEEN MADE.
IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT YESTERDAY, 45-year-old WILLIAM MAENNER OF EVERETT WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING ON ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE CHARGES. POLICE SAY MAENNER shot his neighbor IN THE HAND during an argument ON July 14th. Maenner Is IN THE COUNTY PRISON.

TROOPERS are looking for THE good Samaritan who helped transport the parents and child to meet emergency crews on shore.

JONATHAN KUZMA OF JOHNSTOWN YESTERDAY PLEADED guilty TO CRIMINAL HOMICIDE in the AUGUST beating death of his father, JOHN. CAMBRIA COUNTY district attorney Callihan says KUZMA HIT THE MAN OVER THE HEAD WITH a hammer and stabbED him in the neck…THEN stole money, medications and his vehicle. Kuzma will appear back in court NEXT MONTH AND Judge Tim Creany will determine the degree of murder in the case.

State lawmakers are looking into allegations that police aren't fingerprinting thousands of suspects who are arrested each year. Testimony presented yesterday at a House Judiciary Committee hearing shows the lack of prints means some offenders do not show up in criminal background checks. Officials say 13 percent of offenders who were prosecuted in court, did not have fingerprints on file last year.

Giant Eagle is recalling some of its bread products. Schwebel's Baking Company announced that Listeria was discovered in its Youngstown bakery and affected products may have been shipped to 7 states including Pennsylvania.
No illnesses have been reported and officials say the recall is precautionary measure. The affected bread has a product code beginning with the letter A. Unused products can be returned to the point of purchase.

THESE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT THE WEEK OF AUGUST 11TH.
