THE DEATH OF 30-YEAR-OLD AMANDA SHERRY-GRIFFON OF NORTHERN CAMBRIA HAS BEEN UNDER INVESTIGATION SINCE HER BODY WAS DISCOVERED IN  THE WOODS IN APRIL. TODAY’S ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT THE CAMBRIA COUNTY CORONER HAS RULED THE WOMAN’S DEATH AS “ACCIDENTAL”, AND WAS THE RESULT OF “MULTIPLE DRUG TOXICITY”.  A SEARCH OF SHERRY-GRIFFON’S HOME AFTER HER BODY WAS FOUND TURNED UP A LARGE AMOUNT OF BLOOD IN THE BATHROOM. AUTHORITIES SAY THE BLOOD WAS UNRELATED TO THE WOMAN’S DEATH AND THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

 

AN INMATE AT THE STATE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION AT HOUTZDALE FACES MURDER CHARGES  IN THE BEATING DEATH OF 59-YEAR-OLD WILLIAM KEITEL LAST AUGUST. THE CLEARFIELD PROGRESS REPORTS THAT 44-YEAR-OLD WILLIAM PETERSON AND KEITEL WERE CELLMATES AT THE PRISON. PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE AT THE CLEARFIELD BARRACKS FILED A COMPLAINT ON JUNE 10TH, CHARGING PETERSON WITH CRIMINAL HOMICIDE AND VARIOUS OTHER CHARGES. PETERSON WAS ARRAIGNED ON TUESDAY AND HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 21ST.

 

HOMELAND SECURITY ENFORCEMENT AGENTS DETAINED 10 PEOPLE UNLAWFULLY LIVING AND WORKING IN THE UNITED STATES DURING A RAID LAST WEEK AT 5 CENTRE COUNTY ASIAN RESTAURANTS. THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES REPORTS THAT THE INVESTIGATION BY CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS IS ONGOING AND THAT A SOURCE CLAIMS THE ISSUE IS A CRIMINAL MATTER AND COULD TAKE MONTHS.

 

STATE COLLEGE POLICE SAY 37-YEAR-OLD MATTHEW SNYDER OF STATE COLLEGE ALLEGEDLY STOLE MORE THAN $27,000 IN ELECTRONICS FROM BEST BUY AND A 9-MILLIMETER PISTOL. ACCORDING TO POLICE, SNYDER WAS WORKING AS A U-P-S DRIVER AND STOLE PACKAGES INTENDED FOR DELIVERY AND THEN SOLD THE ITEMS ONLINE. SNYDER PREVIOUSLY MANAGED THE BEST BUY MOBILE IN THE NITTANY MALL, WHERE A PACKAGE OF TEN I-PHONES NEVER ARRIVED. POLICE BEGAN THEIR INVESTIGATION OF SNYDER IN JANUARY.

 

 

 

LAST NIGHT AT THE GEESEYTOWN FIRE HALL, PENNDOT OFFICIALS DISPLAYED PLANS FOR THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO A SECTION OF ROUTE 22 NEAR CANOE CREEK STATE PARK. PENNSYLVANIA'S AUDITOR GENERAL IS WORRIED ABOUT THE FUND THAT PAYS TO REGULATE THE STATE'S HORSE RACING INDUSTRY.  EUGENE DEPASQUALE SAID YESTERDAY THAT THE STATE RACING FUND COULD BE IN TROUBLE IF THE FUNDS CONTINUE BEING USED TO HELP BALANCE THE STATE BUDGET.  A RECENT REPORT FROM DEPASQUALE'S OFFICE FOUND THE STATE AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT HAS TAKEN 873-THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM THE FUND OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS TO BRIDGE BUDGET GAPS.

 

 

AN 89-YEAR-OLD PHILADELPHIA MAN IS HELD WITHOUT BAIL IN CONNECTION TO THE KILLING OF 216-THOUSAND JEWISH PEOPLE WHILE HE WAS A GUARD AT THE AUSCHWITZ DEATH CAMP.  JOHANN BREYER WAS HELD YESTERDAY ON A GERMAN ARREST WARRANT FOLLOWING A WAR CRIMES INVESTIGATION.  BREYER REPORTEDLY ADMITTED TO SERVING AS A GUARD BUT SAYS HE WAS STATIONED OUTSIDE OF AUSCHWITZ.  HIS ATTORNEY CLAIMS HIS CLIENT IS TOO FRAIL TO BE DETAINED.

 

 

EVERYONE IS "BUZZING" ABOUT AN INCIDENT ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE.  OFFICIALS SAY 30-TO 40-THOUSAND HONEY BEES SWARMED A LIGHT ON ONE OF THE TOLLBOOTHS AT THE VALLEY FORGE INTERCHANGE YESTERDAY.  THE LANE WAS CLOSED AND CREWS WERE CALLED IN TO REMOVE THE BEES.  EXPERTS SAY THE HEAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE REASON THEY WERE ON THE MOVE.
