DOUBLE FATALITY CRASH IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY

2 people dIed and 2 kids are in the hospital after a crash Monday afternoon ALONG ROUTE 322 NEAR ROCKTON, CLEARFIELD COUNTY. POLICE SAY A MINI-COOPER AND A CONVERTIBLE COLLIDED, KILLING BOTH DRIVERS. THE KIDS WERE RIDING IN THE MINI-COOPER AND BOTH SUFFERED VERY SERIOUS INJURIES. THEY WERE FLOWN TO A PITTSBURGH HOSPITAL. POLICE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING, BUT SAY IT APPEARS A MALE DRIVER WAS TRYING TO PASS A LINE OF VEHICLES.

VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CHARGES FILED

POLICE IN RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY, YESTERDAY FILED VEHICULAR HOMICIDE CHARGES AGAINST Austin Molinich. HE WAS 18 LAST JUNE WHEN HIS CAR CRASHED INTO a PICKUP TRUCK ALONG FRANKSTOWN ROAD, KILLING 73 YEAR OLD Donald Evans Senior and HIS 19-year old GRANDAUGHTER Cassandra Singer.  DURING THE INVESTIGATION, POLICE DETERMINED THAT MOLINICH was TEXTING and under the influence of alcohol AT THE TIME OF THE WRECK. Molinich IS FREE on 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS unsecured bond. A PRELIMINARY HEARING IS SCHEDULED NEXT TUESDAY.

Former cop APPEALING CONVICTION

THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT BLAIR COUNTY JUDGE TIM SULLIVAN HAS RULED THAT A JURY WAS CORRECT LAST JANUARY WHEN IT DECIDED THERE WAS ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO CONVICT FORMER ALTOONA POLICE OFFICER DUANE EICHENLAUB OF ASSAULTING 2 MEN AT A LOCAL BAR IN 2010, THEN TRYING TO COVER UP THE INCIDENT. EICHENLAUB WAS SENTENCED TO 11-AND-A-HALF TO 23 MONTHS IN THE COUNTY PRISON. HIS ATTORNEYS ARE WORKING ON AN APPEAL.

WOMAN KNOCKED INTO CREEK

32 year old joseph fridenberger of tyrone is charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence…and he’s due at a preliminary hearing today. state police say friedenberger wanted to use a woman’s vehicle on june 16th, but she refused so he kicked her and drove to his home on hoovers lane. the woman walked there and tried to jump into the back seat. that’s when friedenberger put the car in reverse and knocked the victim several feet into a creek bed. he drove her to the hospital where she was treated for a broken ankle or foot and numerous cuts and bruises.

HOTEL CLERK BEATEN

STATE COLLEGE Police SAY a man USED A LARGE SKELETON KEY TO beat a NIGHT clerk AT HOTEL STATE COLLEGE early Monday morning. IT HAPPENED SHORTLY BEFORE 2AM AND AUTHORITIES THINK IT MAY HAVE BEEN aN attempted robbery. the SUSPECT was wearing all black with a black Spiderman mask. HE’S 5-FOOT-10 TO 6-FEET TALL WITH a heavy, muscular build. Anyone with information is asked to call BORO Police.

Pennsylvania is losing ground, in a national ranking of children's well-being. The Annie E. Casey Foundation said yesterday Pennsylvania has slipped to 17th place, down from 14th a year ago. New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts are in the top 3, with New Mexico ranked number 50.
