FOR THOSE WHO FILE FOR AN EXTENSION OR FILE A LATE RETURN, THE LAST DAY TO E-FILE A 2012 INCOME TAX RETURN IS OCTOBER 15TH. THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE’S TAX SERVICE AND INFORMATION CENTER WILL BE OPEN UNTIL 7 TONIGHT FOR LAST MINUTE HELP.

2 DEADLY ACCIDENTS

a deadly wreck shortly before 3 sunday morning in huntingdon county. state police say 34 YEAR OLD TRAVIS BROWN OF IMLER died when HIS PICKUP ran off eagle foundry road in carbon township and struck several trees. AN AUTOPSY IS SCHEDULED TODAY.

ONE MAN IS DEAD AFTER FALLING OUT OF A TREE SATURDAY NEAR THREE SPRINGS, HUNTINGDON COUNTY. AUTHORITIES SAY 47 YEAR OLD DAVID ARTHUR OF HANOVER WAS CUTTING LIMBS THAT WERE BRUSHING AGAINST HIS CABIN WHEN HE FELL ABOUT 20 FEET TO THE GROUND. ARTHUR’S BROTHER CALLED 911, BUT HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT J-C BLAIR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

 

A-T-V DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURED

WILLIAM GEPHART IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AT JOHNSTOWN’S MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER FOLLOWING AN A-T-V CRASH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING NEAR NEW PARIS. POLICE SAY HIS VEHICLE WENT OFF THE PAVEMENT OF ROCKLICK HOLLOW ROAD…THEN HIT A SIGNPOST AND SIDESWIPED A TREE. GEPHART WAS EJECTED ALONG WITH HIS 12 YEAR OLD SON WHO WAS WEARING A HELMET. THE BOY WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR OBSERVATION.

82 year old robert buchanan is recovering at altoona regional health system after being shot in the abdomeN FRIDAY MORNING INSIDE HIS BUSINESS, PIONEER GUN SALES IN THE JUNIATA SECTION OF THE CITY. POLICE CONTINUE THEIR investigation, BUT BELIEVE THIS WAS an accident AND BUCHANAN WAS CLEANING THE WEAPON. HIS SON, RANDY, WAS SHOT TO DEATH IN 2001. HIS MURDERER REMAINS AT LARGE.

GUN DEBATE CONTINUES

u-s Senator Pat Toomey is expecting the Senate to vote on gun reform legislation Wednesday. The Pennsylvania Republican told CNN's "State of the Union" he believes the bill before Congress will keep guns away from the dangerously mentally ill and criminals. The latest round of legislation strengthens background checks, but does not include assault weapons restrictions the White House had hoped for. The bill is open to amendments.

EBENSBURG Water customers CAN expect service interruptions beginning Today. the downtown will BE WITHOUT SERVICE UNTIL early Tuesday AS workers drain lines and install 8 new valves. Similar procedures will take place the rest of the week in other parts of the boro. Customers will be notified in advance by a digital phone call when water service will be interrupted.
