40 homeless

40 people were left homeless last night after fire destroyed all 19 units at THE Waupelani HEIGHTS APARTMENT COMPLEX in State College. fire crews say 2 people were rescued from a balcony and A section of the roof collapsed as they worked to contain the flames.
The Red Cross is helping the residents and A State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause.

THE BLAIR COUNTY D-U-I TASK FORCE ARRESTED 6 PEOPLE FOR DRUNK DRIVING DURING A CHECKPOINT WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING. THEY STOPPED 450 VEHICLES ALONG ROUTE 36 IN HOLLIDAYSBURG. ONE OF THE suspects was WORKING AND DRIVING a client back to a local youth detention center. HIS blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

22 YEAR OLD ARMY COMBAT MEDIC Adam Hartswick OF PINE GROVE MILLS LOST BOTH OF HIS LEGS IN MAY WHEN AN I-E-D EXPLODED IN AFGHANISTAN AND HE WAS BACK IN HAPPY VALLEY YESTERDAY FOR THE 4TH FEST PARADE OF HEROES. HARTSWICK IS BEING TREATED AT WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER IN MARYLAND AND HE SAYS his doctors are pleased with his progress SO FAR. ALSO HONORED AT YESTERDAY’S EVENT WAS SERGEANT Vincent Reynolds, a 2006 Bellefonte graduate who also lost a leg to a BLAST in Afghanistan.
