CAMBRIA COUNTY HOMICIDE

38 YEAR OLD ROBERT WILLIAMS WAS SHOT WHEN 2 BLACK MEN BROKE INTO HIS LYDIA STREET HOME IN RICHLAND TOWNSHIP THURSDAY NIGHT. HE DIED AT THE HOSPITAL SATURDAY AND NOW THE CAMBRIA COUNTY CORONER HAS RULED THE DEATH A HOMICIDE. WILLIAMS SUFFERED 2 GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE HEAD, BUT A CHILD INSIDE THE HOUSE WAS NOT HURT. POLICE HAVE NOT MADE ANY ARRESTS, BUT THEY DON’T BELIEVE THIS WAS RANDOM. THEY THINK ROBBERY WAS THE MOTIVE AND WILLIAMS KNEW HIS ATTACKERS.

MURDER TRIAL OPENING

JURY SELECTION BEGINS IN CAMBRIA COUNTY TODAY  FOR THE MURDER TRIAL OF 2 PHILADELPHIA COUSINS CHARGED WITH THE OCTOBER 2011 SHOOTING DEATH OF 21-YEAR-OLD J-QUAN LEWIS OUTSIDE JOHNSTOWN’S OAKHURST HOMES. TESTIMONY WILL GET UNDER WAY WEDNESDAY AT THE CENTRAL PARK COMPLEX IN THE CITY, RATHER THAN AT THE EBENSBURG COURTHOUSE, BECAUSE MOST OF THE WITNESSES ARE FROM THE JOHNSTOWN AREA. 30 YEAR OLD MARQUIS NEAL IS ACCUSED OF BEING THE GUNMAN AND 29 YEAR OLD ANTHONY HARVEY ALLEGEDLY DROVE NEAL TO AND FROM THE SCENE. BOTH MEN FLED THE CITY AFTER THE MURDER.

NO CHARGES IN PRISON SUICIDE

BLAIR COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY RICH CONSIGLIO HAS ANNOUNCED THAT AARON DISHONG’S DEATH HAS BEEN RULED A SUICIDE AND NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED. THE 62 YEAR OLD EAST FREEDOM MAN HUNG HIMSELF IN HIS CELL LAST MONTH AT THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON. HE WAS CHARGED WITH SETTING THE MID-NOVEMBER HOUSE FIRE THAT KILLED 3 YEAR OLD DARRYL ETCHISON JUNIOR OF ALTOONA. DISHONG LEFT A SUICIDE NOTE, BUT IT DID NOT MENTION THE FIRE.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

JERRY SANDUSKY WILL BE BACK AT THE CENTRE COUNTY COURTHOUSE THURSDAY AS HIS ATTORNEYS FILE POST-SENTENCING MOTIONS. JUDGE JOHN CLELAND HAS RULED THAT REPORTERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE IN CELL PHONES OR ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICES. DURING SANDUSKY’S TRIAL, REPORTERS WERE ALLOWED TO HAVE DEVICES IN THE COURTROOM, BUT THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TRANSMIT ANY INFORMATION UNTIL THE COURT TOOK A BREAK. CLELAND SAYS MANY VIOLATED THAT RULE.

SOMERSET MAN MISSING

THE SEARCH CONTINUES IN OHIOPYLE STATE PARK FOR 29 YEAR OLD JEREMY WALKER OF SOMERSET WHO HAS BEEN MISSING SINCE LAST WEDNESDAY. WALKER’S FAMILY CALLED POLICE AFTER FINDING HIS CAR IN A LOT AT THE PARK. DOZENS OF SEARCHERS LOOKED OVER THE WEEKEND, BUT DID NOT FIND WALKER.

PLANE CRASH REPORT WAS FALSE ALARM

BLAIR COUNTY 911 OFFICIALS RECEIVED A REPORT OF AN ORANGE GLOW ON A HILLSIDE AND A POSSIBLE PLANE CRASH SATURDAY EVENING NEAR THE ALTOONA/BLAIR COUNTY AIRPORT IN MARTINSBURG AND THEY COMBED THE AREA. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A SMALL BRUSH FIRE AND A LOCAL RESIDENT BURNING TIRES.

MAN GIVES POT TO BANK TELLERS

POLICE IN CLEARFIELD COUNTY SAY 34 YEAR OLD GEORGE SUHONEY OF HOUTZDALE WENT TO THE DRIVE-THRU WINDOW AT C-N-B BANK IN WOODWARD TOWNSHIP ON FRIDAY AND PUT MARIJUANA INTO THE MECHANICAL EXCHANGE WINDOW. STATE TROOPERS SAY SUHONEY WAS TRYING TO MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE BANK’S EMPLOYEES, BUT THEY CALLED THE COPS. SUHONEY IS NOW FACING DRUG CHARGES.

ALTOONA ATTORNEY DAVE ANDREWS WILL ANNOUNCE HIS CANDIDACY FOR BLAIR COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT JUDGE TODAY AT 4 AT THE BLAIR COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER. ANDREWS HAS PRACTICED LAW IN THE AREA FOR 35 YEARS.
