2 MEN FOUND DEAD

2 MEN ARE DEAD IN GALLITZIN, CAMBRIA COUNTY, AND STATE POLICE BELIEVE IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. 22 YEAR OLD RYAN LOUTTIT AND 33 YEAR OLD JAMES FLAUGH JUNIOR WERE FOUND DEAD SATURDAY AFTERNOON INSIDE FLAUGH’S HOUSE ON FOREST STREET. DEPUTY CORONER PETE LONG TELLS THE ALTOONA MIRROR THERE WERE NO ILLEGAL DRUGS IN THE HOUSE, BUT LOTS OF PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION. HE THINKS THE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL BE FOUND IN THE TOXICOLOGY REPORT WHICH WON’T BE AVAILABLE FOR WEEKS.

2 FIRES/ONE DEADLY

FIRE KILLED A WOMAN IN JOHNSTOWN SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THE BLAZE BROKE OUT AT AN APARTMENT IN BUILDING 8 AT THE OAKHURST HOMES. CAMBRIA CORONER DENNIS KWIATKOWSKI SAYS THE YOUNG WOMAN SUFFERED BURNS AND APPARENT SMOKE INHALATION AND HE WILL PERFORM AN AUTOPSY TODAY. THE STATE POLICE FIRE MARSHAL IS INVESTIGATING, BUT OFFICIALS THINK THE FIRE WAS ACCIDENTAL.

DAMAGES ARE ESTIMATED AT OVER 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS FOLLOWING A GARAGE FIRE YESTERDAY ON BRISBIN STREET IN HOUTZDALE, CLEARFIELD COUNTY. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, A JEEP, JOHN DEERE TRACTOR, 2 HARLEY DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES, AND VARIOUS TOOLS WERE DESTROYED. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

TODDLER DROWNS

THE INDIANA COUNTY CORONER SAYS A TODDLER FOUND UNRESPONSIVE IN A BATHTUB SATURDAY DIED OF ACCIDENTAL DROWNING. THE MOTHER OF 13 MONTH OLD RYDAN THOMAS OF WHITE TOWNSHIP SAYS HE WAS LEFT IN THE TUB WITH 2 SIBLINGS FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES.

MAKING SCHOOLS SAFER

FOLLOWING THE CONNECTICUT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS, STATE SENATOR JOE SCARNATI PLANS TO INTRODUCE LEGISLATION AIMED AT MAKING SCHOOLS SAFER ON FEBRUARY 13TH. HIS BILL WOULD ALLOW SCHOOLS TO CHOOSE THINGS LIKE MORE SECURITY AND ELECTRONIC MONITORING. CURRENTLY, THE "SAFE SCHOOLS" LINE IN THE BUDGET ONLY GENERATES 500-THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR. SCARNATI WANTS TO PUSH THAT TO 10-MILLION WHICH WOULD BE USED AS A GRANT PROGRAM.
