TODDLER KILLED IN INDIANA

A TRAGIC WEEKEND ACCIDENT IN INDIANA. THE CORONER SAYS 3 YEAR OLD RILEY LITTLEBEN WAS KILLED WHEN HIS FATHER CHARLESON ACCIDENTALLY BACKED INTO HIM IN HIS DRIVEWAY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE LITTLE BOY REPORTEDLY RAN OUT OF THE HOUSE AND BEHIND HIS DAD’S PICK-UP. HE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL AND PRONOUNCED DEAD A SHORT TIME LATER.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

A LAWYER FOR JERRY SANDUSKY IS READY TO WORK ON AN APPEAL. KARL ROMINGER SPENT SEVERAL HOURS WITH THE FORMER COACH AT THE GREENE STATE PRISON ON FRIDAY AND SAYS SANDUSKY’S SPIRIT HAS IMPROVED IN RECENT WEEKS AND HE’S PREPARED TO CHALLENGE HIS CONVICTION AND 30 TO 60 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE. ROMINGER ALSO SAYS THEY WILL ASK PRISON OFFICIALS FOR LESS RESTRICTIVE CONDITIONS. SANDUSKY IS CURRENTLY BEING HOUSED AS A LEVEL-5 INMATE BECAUSE OF CONCERNS OVER HIS SAFETY.

LOCAL STATE REPRESENTATIVE JAKE CORMAN IS SET TO PROPOSE LEGISLATION THAT WOULD SIGNIFICANTLY REFORM THE STRUCTURE OF THE PENN STATE BOARD OF TRUSTEES. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM AUDITOR GENERAL JACK WAGNER REPORTEDLY PROMPTED CONKLIN TO TAKE ACTION. HE WILL LIKELY ASK TO REMOVE THE UNIVERSITY’S PRESIDENT AS A VOTING MEMBER…SHRINK THE BOARD’S SIZE…AND APPLY THE RIGHT-TO-KNOW LAW.

PENN STATE WILL MAKE THE FIRST PAYMENT LATER THIS MONTH ON THE 60-MILLION DOLLAR FINE LEVIED BY THE NCAA. SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAY THE FIRST OF 5 ANNUAL PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE DECEMBER 20TH. AN NCAA TASK FORCE IS STILL DETERMINING HOW THE MONEY WILL BE ALLOCATED TO BENEFIT VICTIMS OF CHILD SEXAL ABUSE.

RAPE TRIAL OPENING

TESTIMONY IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN TODAY IN BEDFORD COUNTY COURT FOR THE TRIAL OF 55 YEAR OLD STEPHEN WEAVER OF SCHELLSBURG. HE’S ACCUSED OF RAPING 2 FEMALE RELATIVES WHEN THEY WERE AS YOUNG AS 13. WEAVER IS ALSO FACING ANOTHER TRIAL AFTER A RELATIVE FOUND 10 PIPE BOMBS IN HIS SHED.

CAREER CRIMINAL BUSTED AGAIN

JERMAINE MORGAN OF ALTOONA HAS A LONG CRIMINAL HISTORY AND NOW POLICE HAVE ARRESTED HIM AGAIN FOLLOWING A TRAFFIC STOP ABOUT 2 SUNDAY MORNING. COPS SAY MORGAN’S WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN THEY PULLED THE CAR OVER ON WASHINGTON AVENUE. MORGAN GOT OUT AND WALKED TO THEIR PORCH. HE WAS WEARING AN EMPTY HOLSTER AND THEY FOUND A HANDGUN ON THE PORCH. LATASHA MORGAN IS FACING SUSPECTED D-U-I CHARGES. WHEN POLICE WENT INSIDE TO CHECK ON THE CHILDREN, THEY FOUND AROUND 10 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA WITH A STREET VALUE OF 20-THOUSAND DOLLARS AND MORE THAN 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CASH. LATASHA MORGAN IS FREE ON BAIL, AND JERMAINE MORGAN IS IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON.

SEVERAL WEEKEND FIRES

IN HUNTINGDON COUNTY, MOUNT UNION POLICE HAVE CHARGED FRANKLIN DELANO HESS WITH ARSON. HE’S ACCUSED OF SETTING AN EMPTY HOME ON FIRE AROUND 10:30 SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE 2-HUNDRED BLOCK OF WEST DAVIS STREET. HESS IS ALSO CHARGED WITH FELONY COUNTS OF RISKING A CATASTROPHE AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF.

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN APARTMENT FIRE THAT HAPPENED SATURDAY NIGHT IN STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY. THE BLAZE BROKE OUT AT THE LUXOR GARDEN APARTMENTS IN THE 12-HUNDRED BLOCK OF KEGG AVENUE. THE FIRE CHIEF SAYS IT SPARKED AFTER SOME FABRIC WAS CAUGHT ON A LIT CANDLE. SEVERAL APARTMENTS WERE TEMPORARILY EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTION. NO ONE WAS INJURED.

ONE ADULT AND 2 CHILDREN ESCAPED, BUT THEIR HOME WAS DESTROYED SUNDAY MORNING IN DUDLEY, HUNTINGDON COUNTY. THE BLAZE BROKE OUT AROUND 3AM ON THE 2-HUNDRED BLOCK OF 4TH STREET. NO WORD YET ON THE CAUSE.

A CAMBRIA COUNTY HUSBAND, WIFE AND THEIR BABY DAUGHTER ARE STAYING WITH FAMILY MEMBERS FOLLOWING A COOKING-RELATED FIRE AT THEIR HOME SUNDAY EVENING. THE ADAMS TOWNSHIP FIRE CHIEF SAYS THE BLAZE BROKE OUT JUST BEFORE 6 AT A HOME ON BEAUTY LINE DRIVE. THE HOUSE HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE KITCHEN, LIVING AND DINING ROOM AREAS, BUT IT WAS INSURED AND THE FAMILY ESCAPED.

ALTOONA’S REVISED RECOVERY PLAN

AFTER RECEIVING THE FIRST DRAFT LAST MONTH, LEADERS CAME UP WITH 27 PAGES OF PROPOSED REVISIONS. CITY COUNCIL WILL CONSIDER ADOPTING THE REVISED PLAN ON DECEMBER 19TH. CITY LEADERS WILL THEN HAVE TO GO BEFORE A JUDGE DECEMBER 21ST TO GET APPROVAL TO LEVY ADDITIONAL EARNED INCOME TAXES.

TAX RALLY IN ALTOONA TODAY

AS THE FISCAL CLIFF APPROACHES, SOME ALTOONA-AREA VOTERS AND ACTIVISTS WILL RALLY TODAY AT 4. ACCORDING TO THE NEWS RELEASE, THEY ARE CALLING ON SENATOR BOB CASEY AND CONGRESSMAN BILL SHUSTER TO PLEDGE TO ONLY SUPPORT A BUDGET DEAL THAT ENSURES THE RICH PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE IN TAXES AND PROTECTS PROGRAMS LIKE MEDICAID, MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY. THE RALLY TAKES PLACE AT THE INTERSECTION OF 17TH STREET AND 6TH AVENUE IN ALTOONA.
